Investigators are continuing to look into a Friday morning crash involving a NFTA Metro Bus that sent ten people to area hospitals.
The crash happened in the intersection of Bailey and East Delavan in Buffalo Friday morning.
"The preliminary investigation indicates that the Transit Bus was heading westbound on Delavan Avenue, passing through a green light, when a vehicle southbound on Bailey Avenue went through a red light, striking the bus near the front passenger door of the bus," said Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority Police Chief George W. Gast.
A second car, unoccupied and parked in a nearby lot, was later struck by the bus.
Six bus passengers, including a child, were injured. So, too, was the bus driver. The child was taken to Oishei Children's Hospital while the others were taken to Erie County Medical Center. Three people occupying the car were also taken to ECMC. Gast did not have the extend of victims' injuries immediately available but said at last word, one of the auto passengers was reportedly in surgery at ECMC.
Gast noted that the investigation was ongoing but would include video captured by city-owned cameras overlooking the intersection, as well as private security cameras.
"Witnesses can get things wrong," he said. "We've had accidents in the past where witnesses have said one thing - not that they're not being truthful, it's just a different perception. But the camera doesn't lie."
