Travel this Independence Day weekend should be less painful for drivers due to lowered gas prices and less lane closures.
On Friday Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that all non-essential construction-related lane closures will be suspended throughout the busy holiday weekend. With over 44 million people predicted to travel more than 50 miles away over the long weekend, Cuomo says state officials are doing everything in their power to make it easier. The restrictions will be in place through July 5.
