Council President Darius Pridgen is likely to visit Baltimore to get a personal look at what's happening and what lessons might be brought back here.
The council president says Buffalo has done a pretty good job of dealing with problems that might lead to unrest, with the last major burst in the Sixties. He says community leaders have responded to grievances, citing recent dealings with the burgeoning Burmese community about problems with the police. He says the response wasn't perfect but it did take place.
Pridgen says there may be lessons in what Baltimore did.
"If there is a peaceful protest that is planned to be there in Baltimore, to just be a participant, number one if it's peaceful. Number two is, I think the City of Buffalo has done a great job in addressing these issues but I want to be prepared for the future and I want to learn from Baltimore," Pridgen said.
Pridgen says he protested in his younger days, including a protest in Forsythe County, Georgia when he was in the Air Force. At that time, Forsythe in the distant Atlanta suburbs had no Black residents.
