Superintendent Brown offers job assessment

Mike Desmond/wbfo news

Though the approaching School Board elections will likely determine her future as Buffalo Schools Superintendent, Dr. Pamela Brown took a proactive approach Wednesday night during a review of her job performance.

While the board is due to prepare its own evaluation of the superintendent soon, last night, she placed her work in a positive light by showing her data-driven changes and improvements in the schools.

Improvements ranged from higher graduation rates to fewer suspensions.

She led the Student Achievement Committee meeting through the array of computer databases and access points for the increasing amount of information about students and teachers.

Overall, Brown gave herself a positive review.

"We identified an additional $128 million that we have brought in to the district through grant writing efforts. One of those grants allows us to provide a leadership institute so that we can create a pipeline of principals, assistant principals to ultimately staff our schools."

Brown says she has provided better support for teachers and for administrators and more web sites with the latest in educational help scripts to improve achievement.
