Actor Stephen McKinley Henderson speaking at UB tonight

Courtesy of the University at Buffalo

Stephen McKinley Henderson is known as a distinguished actor, director and professor in the University at Buffalo's Department of Theater and Dance. Tonight, Henderson will speak candidly about his career during an appearance on UB's North Campus.  You may recognize Henderson's name for his role as Arthur in the HBO film "Everyday People." Henderson's other film credits include the 2012 film "Lincoln" and the 2011 movie "Tower Heist."  His television work includes appearances on "Law & Order," "Third Watch" and "Blue Bloods" among many others.

Henderson is also known for his Broadway and off-Broadway performances, including nearly all of August Wilson's cycle of 10 plays about the lives of African-Americans in 20th century America.  He was nominated for a 2010 Tony Award for his performance in Wilson's play, "Fences," on Broadway.

Henderson is currently starring in "Between Riverside and Crazy," now off-Broadway at the Tony Kiser Theater.

As part of the University's Signature Series, U.B. is honoring Henderson.  He will be featured tonight, as Theater Critic Anthony Chase spends "An Evening with Stephen McKinley Henderson" for an intimate and candid interview about his storied career as a performer, director and educator. The session is free and open to the public, but an RSVP is requested by clicking here.

WBFO's Jay Moran has the opportunity to speak with Henderson on Morning Edition today.
