Buffalo, NY – A late winter storm pummeled Western New York Friday. The heavy snow has subsided, but not before dumping as much as a foot on some parts of Western New York.

The storm tied up traffic for many commuters this morning. The westbound Thruway was re-opened between exit 57 in Hamburg and exit 59 in Dunkirk around 3:30pm after being closed for much of the day because of an accident.

As of mid-afternoon, seven-and-a-half inches of snow was recorded at the airport weather station. Nine inches fell in Blasdell, eight inches in Cheektowaga and North Tonawanda.

The storm has out of the region. But light snow is forecast from Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning. Temperatures will reach the lower 50s Monday with some rain.
