Buffalo, NY – This week's Theatre Talk is only here, online. The on-air presentation was pre-empted due to ongoing news coverage of the crash of Continental Connection Flight 3407 in Clarence the previous night.
The national touring production of Mamma Mia! is at Shea's. Tony says Buffalo audiences respond well to the show, noting it is "cheesy but infectiously happy." Gem of the Ocean is the first in a series of plays by August Wilson about the African-American experience in the 20th century, and is playing at the Paul Robeson Theatre. Buffalo playwright A. R. Gurney's Love Letters is at the Riviera Theatre, and an independent production of The Producers is being staged at Nichols School. For the first time in a long time, the Ujima Theatre Company brings The Visit to Buffalo, and the ALT Theatre Company's first presentation is A Report on Life So Far.
