Buffalo, NY – Buffalo remains the second poorest city in America according to a new survey.
The Homeless Alliance of Western New York released the new street numbers. The results indicate a majority of Buffalo residents are living below the federal poverty line.
A lack of jobs and affordable housing are listed as some of the causes. Alliance executive director Bill O' Connell says the results are the first step in taking action to help the homeless.
The results also show a clear disconnect between needs and services, especially for veterans. O'Connell says it is important that veterans receive their benefits.
The Alliance says the results show the need for affordable housing, education and job training.
