Ridgeway, NY – A fire in a rural Orleans County home has killed three generations of the same family -- a grandmother, her daughter and the daughter's two young children.
Authorities say the fire was reported just before midnight Wednesday in the town of Ridgeway, 35 miles northeast of Buffalo.
The sheriff's office identifies the four victims as Anna Monagan, 56, her 31-year-old daughter April Hausler and Hausler's children, Dawn Hausler, 7, and James Hausler, 10.
The children's father is a trucker who was away from home at the time of the blaze. He has since returned from Ohio.
Two male relatives escaped the blaze, a 14-year-old boy and Monagan's husband. Authorities say James Monagan, 57, suffered serious burns and was taken to the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
