Buffalo, NY – Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown says is time to bid farewell to the hard Control Board.
On Monday, Brown declared that the city's fiscal crisis is over. He says Buffalo has recorded a record surplus of more than $21 million this year. That is the highest in the city's history, and the fifth budget surplus in a row. That now leaves the city with $76 million in unrestricted surplus dollars.
Brown says it is time for the Buffalo Fiscal Stability Authority to transition into an advisory board. He says that would make it easier for the city to negotiate new contracts with its employee unions.
Brown says the city has done everything required by law to move the control board into an advisory role.
