Buffalo, NY – The charges against a former city official for accepting gifts from companies he did business with will be dropped if he remains out of trouble.
Former Acting Public Works Commissioner Daniel Kreuz learned of the conditional discharge at his sentencing Monday. He was fined more than $1,160 and must perform 200 hours of community service.
Kreuz agreed to a plea deal earlier this year and was then fired by Mayor Byron Brown. His attorney Andrew LoTempio described his client as an "excellent public servant" who was unfairly dismissed from his position. But District Attorney Frank Clark responds that Kreuz's dismissal was justified.
Kreuz did not speak with reporters following the sentencing. He did apologize for his actions in court. Kreuz is now working in the private sector.
