Businessmen Named to Shape Erie County Administration

By Joyce Kryszak

Buffalo, NY – Two leading Western New York businessmen will head up the transition team for the future Erie County Executive.

Chris Collins' team will have a doubly focused business approach. On Wednesday he named co-chairs: National Fuel Gas Chief Operating Officer Philip Ackerman and Philip Corwin, the chief financial officer for the Talking Phone Book.

Both men were close advisors during the campaign. But Corwin said they bring decidedly non-political skills to the task of helping to build a new county administration.

Corwin said there is no definite timetable yet for putting the rest of the team together, nor any other names yet announced. Collins has said the committee will be made up of people from the business, civic and government sectors.

Corwin said Collins, with his ties to the business community, will have no trouble finding people to volunteer to help with the transition.

Corwin said the chairs will be meeting with Collins in the next day or two to talk about details of the transition. Once a team is in place, Ackerman and Corwin will also assist in recruiting people to serve as department heads in the new administration.
