Genesee Street Reconstruction Complete, Mayor Hopes It Will Attract New Business

By Mark Scott

Buffalo, NY – Mayor Byron Brown and community activists alike are hoping that a newly-completed reconstruction of Genesee Street in Buffalo will spark an economic revitalization.

Genesee between Bailey Avenue and the city line was rebuilt at a cost of nearly $9 million. Most of the project was paid for by the state and federal governments. There are new curbs, sidewalks and traffic signals. New drainage systems and waterlines were installed.

Mayor Brown says he's hoping the improvements will attract new businesses and residents.
