Buffalo, NY – The employees of BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York bid farewell Thursday to their office building at 1901 Main Street, the company's headquarters for the past 20 years. The health insurance company will be moving its offices downtown to West Genesee Street early next month.
Company President Alphonso O'Neil-White says that while he's excited about moving downtown, he's also grateful for the impact they've had on city's Hamlin Park neighborhood.
"We moved into this present location and helped to revitalize this neighborhood, along with Canisius College and others," O'Neil-White said. "And we're excited that we're not just leaving a hole, Canisius College is going to assume this location and again, help to revitalize this area."
The Main Street building will be converted into a science center by Canisius College. It will house all current health-science programs in addition to new programs within the life science field.
