Buffalo, NY – School children in Buffalo and Western New York are encouraged to enter the "Happy Birthday Buffalo" contest.
The City is celebrating it's 175th birthday this year. In 1832 Buffalo was incorporated as a City. The Mayor is calling on school kids to help continue the celebration.
The City is teaming with the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society in hosting the happy birthday contest. School children are encouraged to use their creativity to help the City celebrate.
There are two categories. Students in grades one through four are asked to write a poem or draw a poster. The theme is Happy 175th Birthday Buffalo. Students in grades five through eight, and those in high school are asked to submit a poem, essay or poster ---telling a story of what Buffalo will be like in the year 20-32- on it's 200th Birthday.
School children must make their submissions for the contest by May 31st. The awards will be handed out during a July 4th ceremony as part of an official Buffalo birthday bash.
