Assessing Local Tree Damage

By Eileen Buckley

Buffalo, NY – The October 12th storm left extensive damage to thousands of trees at Buffalo's Olmsted Parks.

Mayor Byron Brown toured three of the Parks Tuesday. Brown and the leader of Olmsted Parks assessed the damage at Martin Luther King Park, Cazenovia and Delaware Park. The City says 90% of the trees within the parks system were damaged. The Parks could loss a minimum of three thousand of its 12,000 trees.

Olmsted Parks are closed to the public due to safety concerns. For now the public is warned not to use the Olmsted parks until they are officially reopened. The Mayor says those who enter the parks could face potential fines if caught.
