Rest and Eating Right Key to Coping with Storm Stress

Buffalo, NY – Thursday marks a week since the early season snowstorm hit the Buffalo area. By the end of the day, thousands of residents will have spent a full week without power to their homes. And that is starting to take an emotional toll.

Area elected leaders, utility officials and law enforcement authorities are urging people to have patience. But that is becoming easier said than done. So, how do we continue to cope one week into the recovery effort?

Nancy Smyth is dean of Social Welfare in UB's School of Social Work. Dr. Smyth was here for the storm but has since traveled to Washington for a conference. And that's where we reached her at her hotel room.
