Buffalo, NY – Yesterday marked the fifth anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks. State trooper Joseph Longobardo, who died in the line of duty last week in Western New York, was buried yesterday in Saratoga Springs. Every day we hear about the casualties of wars and disasters. Death is a part of life. It doesn't matter if it is sudden, perhaps due to an accident, heart attack, or stroke, or if it results from a long illness. When a loved one dies, we are left with the pain and suffering we call grief. Perhaps the hardest grief to endure is the death of one's child. Tom Zuba, of Rockford Illinois, is a self-educated grief counselor, who has lost a daughter, a wife, and a son. He has established a web site, tomzuba dot com, where grieving people have a sacred space to share their thoughts.
On Friday evening, Tom Zuba will speak in Amherst, as the guest of the Women and Children's Hospital bereaved parents support group, and the Pat's Place and Nick's Net group for parents who have lost children to drugs. This retreat is open to all, and will take place at Amherst Community Church, 77 Washington Highway, in Snyder, this Friday evening (9/15) from 7-9 P.M. There is no admission charge. Refreshments will be served. For further information, please contact Lesley Jordans, Bereavement Coordinator, Women and Children's Hospital, at 878-7773.
In the interview, Tom talks about the book The Seat of the Soul by Gary Zukav.
