Tokasz Calls on Railroads to Improve Union Road Bridges

By Mark Scott

Buffalo, NY – State Assembly Majority Leader Paul Tokasz called on the nation's two freight railroad companies Tuesday to paint their railroad bridges over Union Road in Cheektowaga.

Tokasz described them as an "eyesore." He says the bridges detract from recent improvements the state made to the busy Union Road and Walden Avenue area.

Tokasz says both Norfolk Southern and CSX have received property tax relief to assist them in maintaining their bridges.

Railroad spokesmen say they're using their limited resources to maintain the structural integrity of the bridges before they deal with cosmetics.
