Buffalo, NY – On the same day President Bush traveled to Cleveland to promote his policy in Iraq, Republican US Congressman Tom Reynolds was in the Buffalo area placing the emphasis on the "war on terror."
Three years ago, the US led invasion into Iraq began, setting off a war. But on Sunday, outside the White House, Bush would not use the word "war" when talking with reporters. On Monday, there was a similar response from Congressman Reynolds. When he was asked about the three year Iraqi war, Reynolds addressed the questions by referring to the "war on terror."
"There is a war on terror," Reynolds said. "Iraq and Afghanistan are part of that."
Reynolds says Americans must remember three things -- the US will never forget the attacks of 9/11, the war on terror continues against those who want to destroy freedoms enjoyed in the US, and American troops and coalition forces remain in harm's way in Iraq and Afghanistan.
"Our troops are in very dangerous neighborhoods in Iraq and Afghanistan as they fight not only for the freedoms of those countries but the freedoms of all of us, who cherish democracy."
WBFO News asked Reynolds what his constituents have been saying to him about the Iraq war. He says they clearly want America to win.
"I have talked to so many troops from my district who know the mission they were asked to do is succeeding."
Reynolds did say he and many other lawmakers would like to see US troops back at home.
