Buffalo, NY – Thursday's harsh winter weather didn't stop state and local officials from taking a "hard hat" tour of a new senior housing complex in Lackawanna. People Incorporated is building the 49-unit complex on Franklin Street in Lackawanna at a cost of $4 million.
Agency spokesman Kevin Horrigan says there is a need for such housing in the "Steel City."
"This will be our ninth senior housing project," Horrigan said. "Our demographic studies show that there is a growing elderly population in the City of Lackawanna. That is why we went forward and developed this project."
Horrigan says inquiries are already coming in from low-income seniors in Lackawanna. He says People Incorporated is planning a tenth facility which will be located in West Seneca.
