Buffalo, NY – Yet another elected Erie County official is stepping down. Sheriff Patrick Gallivan announced Saturday that he will accept an appointment from Governor Pataki to the state's Parole Board.
The post requires the confirmation of the state Senate. If the appointment is approved, Gallivan will resign, and he will be succeeded by undersheriff Tim Howard. It's not known yet who would line up to run for the post this fall.
