Buffalo, NY – The National Buffalo Wing Festival returns to Dunn Tire Park Labor Day weekend.
The third installment of the popular festival will feature cooking demonstrations, live entertainment and the nationally renowned USA Chicken Wing Eating Championship. Last year's winner consumed 134 chicken wings in just 12 minutes.
The man whom locals have dubbed the "Wing King," festival founder Drew Cerza, says the event is great way to lure people from all parts of the country to Buffalo.
"I'm finding out that chicken wings are becoming a little bit of a cult food; we're proud to own the cult here. The chicken wing tour we just did was proof of that," Cerza said. "This is year three, we will expand and get bigger and better. I always said I'm not concerned about the number of people we have at the festival. It's the number of people that we bring from out of town to help the local economic impact on the city, but also making sure everybody has a lot of fun.
The festival will run September 3rd through the 5th. About 25 restaurants, half of them from out of town, will participate. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the chicken wing.
