Play honors human rights activist lost in crash

Roger and Alison Des Forges

By Joyce Kryszak

Buffalo, NY – Internationally-known human rights activist Alison DesForges was among those who perished in the Flight 3407 plane crash one year ago. Before her death, DesForges was asked to participate in the local premiere of "Miracle in Rwanda," a play about survival during the Rwandan genocide.

Now, the production is being staged as a tribute to DesForges. The play runs at UB Thursday night though Saturday, with comments after each performance from six people deeply touched by DesForges and her work. WBFO's Joyce Kryszak sat down in our studios with Alison's husband Roger DesForges.

The play, "Miracle in Rwanda" will be performed at 7:30 P.M Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the UB student Union Theatre. An opening recession will be held Thursday night before the play to raise funds for scholarships and lectures in honor of DesForges.
