Buffalo, NY – No third body was found in the rubble of a burned out building on Genesee Street in Buffalo.
Buffalo. Fire Commissioner Michael Lombardo met with reporters late Wednesday afternoon at Buffalo Fire headquarters in downtown Buffalo. WBFO'S Eileen Buckley has details.
"There was no one else, at this time, in the basement of that building," said Lombardo.
Lombardo says over the last two days they took the building apart piece-by-piece in their search.
Lt. Charles McCarthy and Firefighter Jonathan Croom died. They were attempting to locate a report of a person trapped inside when the first floor collapsed. Both were trapped in the basement where the died.
Their funerals will be held Friday. Up to ten thousand firefighters from around the country and Canada are expected to attend. Buffalo Police are warning that local traffic will be limited and cut off in and around St. Joseph Cathedral on Franklin Street downtown on Friday from 5 a.m. through 4 p.m.
