Buffalo, NY – Buffalo Sabres managing partner Larry Quinn is denying reports that the team is up for sale.
The upcoming edition of Western New York Hockey Magazine is reporting that owner Tom Golisano is once again actively looking to sell the team. But Quinn issued a written statement late Monday morning saying they are not in negotiations to sell the team and will never entertain discussions to move the team out of Buffalo.
WBFO'S Eileen Buckley reached Quinn on his cell phone. He stated "there is no truth to this thing."
In the article, hockey writer Jim Kelley cites one source as saying a potential buyer is Canadian billionaire Jim Balsillie, who has been trying to attract an NHL franchise to Hamilton. The magazine report says such a sale might involve some Sabres home game being played in Hamilton.
