Buffalo, NY – Tonight UB will hold its 20th annual "Take Back the Night" rally to raise awareness about sexual assault. Organizers say that there is more interest than ever in the campaign because of concerns over the recent sexual attacks on UB campuses.
As it does each year, the rally will include speakers and a candlit march down Main Street in front of UB's South Campus. But this year there promises to be a few more candles to shine a brighter light on the growing concerns. Jane Fischer is director for UB Sub Board Incorporated Health Education, the group sponsoring the rally. Fischer said there is more interest this year, particularly because of two rapes that occurred recently on the South Campus.
Fischer said students have called to find out more information about the services offered to help keep them safe. She said they direct them to their web site where they can find out about walk station and safety shuttle services. She said students and faculty are planning more carefully. And she friends are looking out for one another.
UB's "Take Back the Night" rally begins at 7:00 PM Tuesday in Harriman Hall on the South Campus.
