Buffalo, NY – Buffalo has a brand new Hospice House designed to serve the inner-city. A dedication for the St. John Baptist Hospice Buffalo House was held Sunday.
The new Hospice house is the first in the U.S. to be created through the efforts of a church based organization and Hospice. The $2.7 million facility is located in Buffalo's Fruit Belt. St. John's pastor Rev. Michael Chapman approached Hospice voicing a need of end-of-life services in his community. According to national numbers, only 8.2% of African Americans use Hospice services.
