Buffalo, NY – The condition of injured Buffalo Bills player Kevin Everett is substantially improved.
According to various reports Tuesday, Everett voluntarily moved his arms and legs.
Dr. Barth Green, chairman of the University of Miami Department of Neurological Surgery, says after reviewing the injury with Everett's doctors here, he thinks the player will be able to walk out of the hospital.
"Based on the information that my colleague, Dr. Andy Cappuccino, told me about an hour ago, with the strength he has in his arms and legs, I think it's realistic to say that he will walk out of the hospital."
Everett suffered a severe spinal injury during Sunday's game against Denver, and he is in the intensive care unit of Millard Fillmore Gates Circle hospital after four hours of surgery Sunday night.
On Monday, Dr. Cappuccino cautioned reporters that Everett suffered a "potentially catastrophic" injury to his spine, and that the outlook for a full recovery was "bleak."
Everett's mother has issued a statement expressing her and her family's gratitude for the outpouring of support for her son, and she thanked the doctors and Bills organization for all they have done.
