Buffalo, NY – Maxim Afinogenov scored a power-play goal at 4:39 of overtime to give Buffalo a come-from-behind 2-to-1 win over the New York Rangers. That moves the Sabres within a win of the Eastern Conference finals.
Chris Drury forced overtime by scoring with less than eight seconds left for the Sabres. It took Buffalo 37 shots before they finally beat Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist.
Martin Straka broke a scoreless tie in the third period with a goal for the Rangers.
Buffalo can win the best-of-seven series when it shifts to Madison Square Garden for Game Six on Sunday. If necessary, a deciding game would be held Tuesday back in Buffalo.
