Investigators Searched Diver Vehicle

By Eileen Buckley

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff investigators won't say what they found inside Joan Diver's SUV. The Clarence woman was murdered along a bike path. Her body was discovered on October 1st, two days after she disappeared, but authorities don't have a suspect.

Diver's car was fully searched on Monday, the same day the sheriff's department executed a search warrant. Lt. Ron Kenyon says they had difficulty in contacting the family through an attorney, so they were forced to get a warrant.

A statement, issued by the Diver family Monday, said it misunderstood and thought the vehicle was already searched prior to finding Mrs. Diver's body.

Lt. Kenyon says they briefly examined the car when she was reported as a missing person. It was never fully searched when it turned into a murder case.

The Diver statement also said husband, Steven Diver, is willing to provide a DNA sample. Earlier reports said he was not cooperating. Diver is not considered a suspect, but Lt. Kenyon says they would like to talk with him once again.
