Buffalo, NY – A job fair began Tuesday to fill 200 positions at a new laundry services facility opening on Buffalo's East Side.
Sodexho, Incorporated and Centerstone Development are collaborating on a $22 million project to convert the old Curtis Wright manufacturing plant at Grider and East Ferry into a laundry facility serving the region's hospitals. Buffalo attorney John Giardino says he created Centerstone to develop projects in neglected neighborhoods.
"The Curtis Wright plant is an old industrial facility that hasn't been productive," Giardino said. "Here's some private sector investment to bring that building back into use."
The job fair will be held Tuesday and Wednesday from 9am till 3pm each day at the Delavan-Grider Community Center in Buffalo. Giardino says the plant is in need of office workers, computer technicians, line operators and truck drivers.
