Two Men Hurt in Fireworks Plant Blast Die From Injuries

By Associated Press

Clarksville, NY – Two men who were inside a building that was leveled by an explosion at a fireworks plant in Western New York have died.

State Police say Andrew Beck, 23, of Cuba and Karl Marvin, 51, of Bolivar died overnight at Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, where they had been flown by helicopter Wednesday afternoon.

The men were working at Grand Fireworks in the town of Clarksville, in Allegany County, when the explosion occurred around 1pm.

Investigators are still looking for the cause of the explosion, which sent pieces of wall flying hundreds of feet. State Police Lieutenant Rick Allen says there's no indication that it was anything other than an accident.

Authorities say the business located near Olean manufactured large-scale fireworks for professional shows.
