Council Bill Would Remove Control Board Voting Powers from Masiello and Giambra

By Mark Wozniak

Buffalo, NY – The Buffalo Common Council is asking the state to remove the voting powers of the two elected representatives who serve the Buffalo Fiscal Stability Authority, the control board overseeing city finances.

The bill passed by a 5-3 vote. It was sponsored by North District council member Joseph Golombek.

Golombek said Mayor Anthony Masiello and County Executive Joel Giambra should not have voting powers, and should instead be ex-officio members.

Masiello says he is surprised and disappointed, but he thinks the chances are slim that the state would approve the request.
