Buffalo, NY – About two dozen Buffalo State College students continue to stay at a Delaware Avenue hotel after fire forced the evacuation of their high-rise Tower Three dormitory Saturday night.
One student was treated for smoke inhalation from the two-alarm fire, which started in a suite on the eighth floor.
Damage is estimated at $175,000. Authorities believe the fire was deliberately set.
Final exams start Monday at the college. The displaced students are being offered options for finishing course work and taking exams.
Buffalo State spokeswoman Nanette Tramont says the dorm's alarm systems and its evacuation plan worked well. Evacuation had been practiced.
