Buffalo, NY – D'Youville College in Buffalo has announced a new housing program they hope will benefit the school and its surrounding West Side neighborhood.
An employer assisted housing program will offer full-time employees up to five thousand dollars in a five-year forgivable loan to buy property near the college.
Congressman John LaFalce says it's hoped the investment by D'Youville professors and other staff will provide a boost to the neighborhood.
"It just helps the neighborhood tremendously when you know it is not only the physical presence of D'Youville -- that in the neighborhood you have not just students, but faculty, administration and staff living right here," LaFalce said. "It helps everyone."
D'Youville President Sister Denise Roche says home ownership strengthens neighborhoods and allows organizations to keep valuable employees.
