The Bills 25-35 loss to the Redskins in Washington means Buffalo has been eliminated from playoff contention again. "The Bills have missed the playoffs for 16 straight years, giving them the longest current streak in all of professional sports," according to Football Analyst Matt Sabuda.
"It was plain for all to see from the start. The defense just wasn't up to the task and looked to be mentally checked out right from the opening kick off," says Sabuda. "To make matters worse, add some anonymous internal bickering by someone in the Bills front office who went to the press and allegedly doubted whether Mario Williams was even legitimately sick when he missed practice this week and you have the prefect recipe for a bickering Bills sequel."
"The Bills have a lot of great components to create a playoff contender, if they could only put it all together," says Sabuda. "We can't ignore Sammy Watkins' 111 yards which brings him to 827 on the season after a slow start. Tyrod Taylor wasn't great but amidst the backdrop of a brutal offensive line performance and much of the team appearing to be headed for the hills, Taylor did stand out in that he always seem to use his athleticism to extend the play. Overall, he had 235 yards passing and 79 yards rushing. I don't want it to make it seem like excelled or took the next steps we were hoping for but I couldn't help be impressed by the effort."
"I've seen enough football to know that this team's talent far exceeds their effort and discipline. No reason at all that this team is 6-8 after 14 games. Rex Ryan says the responsibility lands on him, and I couldn't agree more," says Sabuda. "While it's only year one of Rex Ryan and year three of Doug Whaley as General Manager, the Pegulas should make it clear that the whole operation is going to be on the hot seat going into the 2016 season as Buffalo really does deserve better."
