Buffalo, NY – Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown is praising the cooperation among local police agencies that he says made this week's drug sweep throughout the city possible.
In a series of raids known as "Operation Heartbreak," 101 warrants were executed in a two-day period.
54 people were arrested, with various drugs, guns and cash confiscated.
Mayor Brown said police from his city were joined by officers from neighboring municipalities and higher-level agencies to carry out these raids. "The level of cooperation between law enforcement at the local, state and federal level has been absolutely unprecedented," said Mayor Brown.
Police commissioner Daniel Derenda says 101 search warrants were executed in a two-day period, Monday and Tuesday.
"15 to 20 pending arrests. 11 guns recovered. Approximately $10,000 in cash and various narcotics," said Derenda.
Police officials said among the people arrested was a man wanted for questioning in a murder case under investigation in Puerto Rico.
