Buffalo, NY – The latest storm to hit Western New York arrived with more a whimper than a bang.
Roads are slick and snow covered, but snow fall totals fell well shy of the 14 inches that we were anticipating.
The list of reported spin-outs Wednesday morning was nearly as long as the list of school closings, but Bob Hamilton at the Airport Weather Station said that while the tail-end of the morning drive is still tough going, he's expecting things to improve significantly.
The National Weather Service says a Winter Weather Advisory will now be in effect for ALL of Western New York until 10 p.m. Wednesday.
Snowy conditions, including snow and blowing snow are expected through out the region with an additional one to two inches of snow. It will be windy with gusts of up to 40-miles an hour from Buffalo and Batavia southward. Forecasters say this will create considerable blowing snow and could create hazardous driving conditions on area roadways.
Many school districts and colleges across the region closed in response to the storm. Most announced the shutdown by Tuesday evening.
All Buffalo Public School and Buffalo Catholic Elementary Schools are closed as well as the University at Buffalo, the UB Educational Opportunity Center, Buffalo State College, Daemen College, all Campuses of ECC and NCCC and Niagara University.
Travel advisories continue in Erie, Niagara, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua and the Niagara (Ontario) region.
