Buffalo, NY – The move to enact a downsizing initiative in the Town of Amherst is being pushed by the Town Board's Rpublican majority members.
A resolution to eliminate two seats has been presented by Barry Weinstein and will be voted on by the Board at a meeting next week. A public hearing is expected in mid-January. Should the resolution be approved, the first seat to be eliminated will be Weinstein's in 2011. Weinstein is moving on to become Town Supervisor.
The other seat would be eliminated in 2014, unless a vacancy on the Board arises before then. In that case, the seat would be eliminated immediately.
