Foundations Collaborate to Fund Mid-Sized Arts Groups

By Mark Scott

Buffalo, NY – Ten local cultural groups have been selected to participate in a new arts initiative being put together by local charitable foundations called the Fund for Arts. Representatives of local foundations unveiled the initiative yesterday. Clotilde Dedecker of the Community Foundation of Greater Buffalo says the local foundations are pooling their funds for these arts grants.

Among the groups selected for this initiative are the African American Cultural Center in Buffalo, the Graycliff Conservancy in Derby and the Just Buffalo Literary Center. Another seven smaller arts groups, which are partnering with the recipient organizations, will also benefit.

Besides funding, Dedecker says the groups will receive the help of a consultant to help them grow.

Dedecker says these mid-sized cultural groups are just as important to the vibrancy of this region as are the large anchor institutions.
