Davis pleaded guilty last Friday to two misdemeanor charges, admitting he used almost $2,000in campaign funds for his personal use.

Masten District Council member Demone Smith says it would be "beneficial" for everyone involved if Davis left office now.

"To be honest, at this point yes. I think it would probably be in the best interest of everybody," said Smith.

Smith tells WBFO News he wouldn't be surprised if Davis resigns soon.

"I think right now, just to stop the snow ball effect of this story, it might be best if he moved on."

The Common Council is seeking a formal opinion from the City's law department by this Thursday's filing deadline. Davis has been stripped from his Council committee assignments.
