New York's Presidential Primary Moved Up

By Eileen Buckley

Buffalo, NY – A change in New York's Presidential Primary date could benefit democrat Hillary Clinton and republican Rudy Giuliani.

The Governor signed a bill Monday that moves the State's primary date up by a month. New York's Presidential primary will be moved from March 5th to February fifth, just 22 days after the Iowa caucuses.

University at Buffalo political science professor Dr. James Campbell says by moving the primary, it will severely reduce the chances of other candidates having much success, while it is expected to benefit front-runners Clinton and Rudy Giuliani.

Campbell says the compression or front end loading of the system makes it more like a national primary. He says it will also make the candidates race for campaign financing even more important.
