Niagara Falls, NY – If the Pentagon's plans go through, the future will look brighter for the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station.
The Army plans to build a $30 million regional readiness center at the air base in two years. Monday's announcement comes seven months after the base dodged a proposed closing.
Congresswoman Louise Slaughter, whose district includes the Niagara Falls area, says the project will bring long-term, quality jobs to the region.
The Army's plans include the possibility that New York National Guard units will use the new facility.
The federal Office of Management and Budget and Congress will have to approve the project.
