House Committee Votes to Block Ports Deal

The facility in Newark, N.J., is among six U.S. ports that would be operated by Dubai Ports World under the controversial deal.

In the latest sign of friction between President Bush and members of his party in Congress, a Republican-dominated committee votes to block the Dubai Ports World deal. The move by the House Appropriations Committee puts Congress on a collision course with the president, who has said he would veto any legislation blocking the deal.
