Amherst, NY – Ingram Micro is reducing the size of its North American workforce by 550 employees.
Company officials announced Monday they plan to outsource some company functions while consolidating others. They say most of the affected employees will keep their jobs through the end of the year.
Peter DiMarco, a vice president at Ingram Micro's Amherst operations, said the local office will share in the job cuts.
"The impact to Buffalo is about 120 associates," DiMarco said. "Today, we have about 1,300 associates. When these changes are made, we'll have about 1,200."
DiMarco says Ingram Micro's offices on Wehrle Drive in Amherst will now be the company's largest in North America. He says Ingram Micro's government and education sales and support teams will be consolidated at Amherst.
