Buffalo, NY – After a six month national search for a new superintendent, the Buffalo Board of Education has selected its candidate to become the next schools superintendent.
Board members spent several hours behind closed doors Wednesday, interviewing two candidates before coming to a consensus on a finalist.
They're still refusing to release his identity, but Denise Hanlon, Board Vice President for Executive Affairs, says he has superintendent experience.
"He's a very strong leader with urban experience," Hanlon said. "He has lots of experience as a superintendent. He understands the challenges that Buffalo has. He holds a doctorate. He started out as a teacher and came up through the ranks."
Hanlon added that the finalist will be notified pending a background check, and that the board may discuss a contract at its next meeting on April 13th.
