Buffalo, NY – A major change is pending at a Buffalo landmark.
Redlinski Meats, the Broadway Market's oldest and second largest tenant, is closing its stand at the end of the business day Saturday. Mark Redlinski, president of the family-owned butcher shop, said it was a business decision to leave the Market after 55 years.
Redlinski says it has nothing to do with the board of directors or management of the struggling city-owned market.
"I realize this is a very serious blow to the market," Redlinski said. "It bothers me, and I talked it over with other family members. But tradition doesn't put money in the bank."
Redlinski's continues to do well at its Cheektowaga location on Walden Avenue, but recently closed its Elma store.
